I’m so excited to tell you about my next adventure! I’m going to Dubai (with a stopover in Boston) and I’m leaving today! Well, leaving for Boston today. We leave for Dubai tomorrow night.

My friend Maggie (who I’ve traveled to Spain, India, Germany, Bulgaria and Turkey with) and I were discussing our next vacation destination together earlier this year. She moved to Boston a few years ago after completing her MBA in Spain and we no longer see each other as much as we would like, so we try to travel somewhere together every few years. We were throwing out ideas and Dubai was one of them. We both agreed we wanted to go and we have friends who live there we could visit, so we decided to keep it in mind. About a month later, I saw an amazing deal for round-trip airfare on Emirates for $700! I immediately called Maggie and asked if she wanted to commit. She thought about it for 6 seconds and said, “Yep, let’s do it.” We booked the airfare for November and I used air miles to book flights out to Boston to meet up with her and now we’re about to set off on our next adventure together.

We don’t have a lot planned for this trip, mostly lying on the beach.

But I do want to do some indoor skiing at Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates.

And what’s a trip to Dubai without visiting the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa?

If we get tired of the beach, there’s plenty of other things to keep us busy while we’re here. There’s the water park at Atlantis the Palm, more Michelin starred restaurants than you could ever eat at, SCUBA diving in the Persian Gulf and shopping at some of the biggest malls in the world.

And there’s always the option for a day trip to Abu Dhabi.

Then it’s back to Boston for one more day with Maggie, before heading back to Seattle. I can’t believe it’ll practically be Thanksgiving when I get back. Where has the year gone? I have one more post on India to tell you about and then since this trip kind of reminds me of my past trips to Mexico, I’ll be recounting those for you over the next week.

Have you been Dubai? Do you have any recommendations or suggestions of things to do and see? I’d love to hear them!
